KOOTENAY KONNECTS

Wear your colour. Meet your people.

The whole village becomes one dating scene. At the centre of it all: facilitated speed connections, rotating every 15 minutes between rounds built for romance, friendship, and business. Come find your soul mate, your co-founder, or just your new favourite neighbour — then dance about it. DJ sets, an alleyway party, and a colour-coded wristband system that does the awkward part for you, at the Kootenay Lake Innovation Centre and beach.

Four zones, one roof.

Two parallel experiences run side by side all weekend, with sound separation so the connections floor stays conversation-friendly while the dance floor stays loud.

DJ Stage

House music, funk & disco sets all weekend. Dance floor, curated programming, late-night energy. Spilling into the alleyway.

Speed Connections

Facilitated rounds for social, romantic, platonic and professional connection. Wristband-coded intent system throughout.

Alleyway Block

Street closed to traffic, activated as open-air festival space with seating, food, and ambient programming.

Angry Hen Beer Garden

Licensed bar featuring a local beer, wine and beverages. Patio seating in the alleyway, full liquor licence.

One bell. Zero awkwardness.

The entire connections floor rotates on one roaming person with a hand bell. Every 15 to 20 minutes they move through the crowd and ring it.

Everyone takes three steps and says hi to whoever is closest. No music pause, no announcements, no forced seating. The bell does all the work — and because rotation is proximity-based, no one is singled out by age, appearance, or social confidence.

"When you hear the bell, take three steps and say hi to whoever is closest."

Three days, four sessions.

The whole town is the room.

Anyone in Kaslo can pick up a wristband and wear it around town all weekend. No rules outside the venue — just the signal. The alleyway activation is the visible anchor; foot traffic sees the wristbands and wants one.

"Wear your colour.
Meet your people."
